Physical, Mental, Social and Emotional Homeostasis

Stress on the body is inevitable.  It is when our bodies can't efficiently recover easily from them, that will impact how well we function.  Too much stress, whether physical, emotional or otherwise can create an environment where we can experience lowered immunity, fatigue, hormone disruptions, increased cell death and decreased tissue oxygenation.  We might find ourselves more irritable, having more concentration difficulties, digestive upset, more frequent colds, menstrual concerns for woman, sexual function issues, slower injury recovery and decreased energy levels.

Depending on how we are affected by stress and our lifestyle, will determine if we will have hyperactive, or hypoactive responses.  In order to have balance and live efficiently, our system (from cell to tissue to organ) need to respond appropriately.

Research has shown that acupuncture, shiatsu, and moxibustion have the ability to restore homeostasis to the nervous system (parasympathetic and sympathetic), regulate hormones, release endorphins, decrease inflammation, balance cortisol levels, improve circulation of blood, lymph and body fluid, decrease venous congestion and increase healing.

Healthy circulation is essential to life.
